Here's
what reviewers are saying about
"Fans of Higgs's Scottish
historical trilogy (Thorn in My Heart; Fair Is the Rose;
and Whence Came a Prince) will be happy to find that the
saga of the McKie family continues in this reinterpretation of
the story of Dinah from the Book of Genesis. Higgs, whose
historical romances are refreshingly different, has written an
absorbing, well-crafted novel with a gut-wrenching plot that
will move readers. Highly recommended for most collections.

STARRED REVIEW
"Scotland and the Isle of Arran
are as fully developed as any of the flesh-and-blood characters
of Liz Curtis Higgs's newest book, Grace in Thine Eyes.
For a textbook course on the growth of a writer, read Higgs's
earlier contemporary romances followed by her Scottish trilogy.
Her skill grows with each book, and is well displayed in Grace
in Thine Eyes. Higgs is gifted in taking a familiar Bible
story and retelling it in a new setting, allowing her readers a
glimpse of how Dinah, Jacob, Leah, and their sons might have
felt and reacted to impossible situations. By the time I closed
the book, I left behind not just my dear friend Davina and her
fiddle, but a windswept home on a rocky green island across
Brodick Bay. Higgs's prose is lyrical when describing Scotland,
but her special skill is crafting characters that leap off the
page and into our hearts."

"A
Scottish story of heartache, romance, loss and forgiveness, running
parallel to the Biblical account of Jacob, Liz Curtis Higgs's Grace in
Thine Eyes is a heartwarming experience. Seventeen year old Davina lost her
ability to verbalize when just a child,
but has mastered communication. With eye contact, hand gestures, and a
rare
gift of musical talent, Davina wins the hearts of onlookers. Deeply loved
by
her twin brothers and older brother, Davina is protected and cherished.
When the twins are sent away from home by their father, their concern is
for the safety of Davina in their absence. Subsequent decisions by the head of the
home find Davina also sent away for
a time, and what a time it is. Higgs weaves a wonderful story of life
and loss, with lessons in forgiveness
and healing. Her ability to combine lessons, history and Biblical truths
may
be unmatched. Recommended reading for older teens and adults."

"Higgs' book is as bonny as the
heroine. The author has a way of creating such a tangible world
that the reader can smell the hawthorn and touch the dewy grass.
She has such an incredible ability to make the reader care about
the scoundrel, who should be despised, that this book won't stay
on the shelves long."

"In her latest novel, Grace
In Thine Eyes, Liz Curtis Higgs continues the story of the
McKie family in Scotland by turning to the McKie children. Higgs
attention to detail in her research and writing has proven
successful with a story rich in beauty and emotion. Grace In
Thine Eyes is a beautifully written story of love, betrayal,
and revenge. Tackling the hard subject that comes with these
emotions, Higgs broadens our depth of feeling and understanding
of the heart. Her attention to detail creates a real landscape
that allows readers to lose themselves in the rich country and
heritage. This idyllic setting creates a wonderful pallet for
readers to sit back and enjoy a great story."

"The biblical story of Jacob and his family relations have long fascinated generations of readers. Beloved Christian author Liz Curtis Higgs...takes the story of Jacob's daughter Dinah from Genesis 34 and develops it into a lovely, heart-wrenching story of love, loss and redemption.
Tragedy turns to love and returns to tragedy, but from beginning to end, Davina relies on her faith and the loving support of her family to see her through.
Higgs has spent countless hours researching the Scottish background in which she has set her intriguing biblical tales, and her dedication to detail and description shines through her words. Grace In Thine Eyes can be a stand-alone story, but readers and fans of Higgs' previous works will be delighted to see the return of the beloved characters."
